PORTRAYAL

This eyebrowish, effortless actor came to prominence as a teen in the mid eighties and rose to a career high in the early nineties in a handful of cool, off-beat teen-action roles such as Kuffs and True Romance. Often compared to Jack Nicholson due to his distinctive eyes and smile, Slater has struggled to explore enough ground to be able to command satisfying roles in the latter part of his career.

My first encounter with Christian Slater was with his charming little role in Young Guns II, and my fascination for him continued in films such as True Romance and Kuffs. I once predicted that Slater could have replace the significance of a young Jack Nicholson, but his lack of versatility has  made me rethink that anticipation.
