The Life of David Gale (2003)
This clever film by Alan Parker is a
murder mystery wrapped in political drama. It is overwrought and plotted
but brilliantly directed and acted. Kevin Spacey is the victim or the
manipulator, Kate Winslet is our energetic protagonist and Laura Linney
is the one with the great performance. The political aspects of the film
is an obvious protest at the death penalty, but the film isn't fanatical
nor missionary, it just wants to tell its compelling story.
