Kvinnen
i mitt liv (2003)
Thomas Giertsen brings just as much charm and balance to his first role in feature films as he has done to his stand-up and television shows. His vivid eyes and fine timing makes him the perfect instrument for Aleksander Eik in this warm and good-natured, if formulaic genre film. Kvinnen i mitt liv is well shot by Jon Gaute Espevold who captures the light delicately and shows a good sense of depth and spatial understanding in his work. The script by Lars Espen Bakke is unremarkable but playful, and the dialogue has quite a bit of sting to it that a fine ensamble cast makes the most of. One of Norway's most versatile and talented performers, Gard B. Eidsvold, has a wonderful turn as Giertsen's blind pal, and Ane Dahl Torp is at her most beautiful and spontaneous here. Look for Espen Eckbo and Kjersti Holmen in amusing cameos in this cheerful vehicle.
