Review

Films that involves time-travels have an unescapable tendency to not be water-tight, and The Jacket is of course no exception. However, this is also a film of dramatical value spanning from the interesting (and well conveyed) Adrien Brody-character through some effective observations and theories on dimensions, and finally to a brilliant performance by old-timer Kris Kristofferson. I liked the pairing of Brody and Knightly as well, and obviously the latter blossoms under the challenge of having to act off someone with more talent than Orlando Bloom. The mystery element here is valid and keeps you on your toes, and the direction by John Maybury is tight and handsome. However, ultimately a film like this usually has more ambition than it can account for, and The Jacket fits that description perfectly.
