Hører
du ikke hva jeg sier! (1995)
Erik Gustavson's third film in five years starring Bjørn Floberg is also the weakest. The premise seems creative at first glance, as Gustavson yet again teams up with Norwegian success author Lars Saabye Christensen and writes about stand-up comedy, open relationships and old vs. new show-biz values. The discussions should be interesting enough, but Gustavson hasn't got all that much to say. The funny bits in Hører du ikke hva jeg sier! is rarely down to the writing, but rather stems from Gustavson's creative and techincally brilliant camera work as well as some great characterizations - especially from Keve Hjelm. The romance between Floberg and Holmen is predictable in all its unconventionality, but the two manage to convey some touching moments. When it comes to the acting, Holmen is the better one, giving a heartfelt performance, whereas Floberg lacks edge in his character developments. Hører du ikke hva jeg sier! is an unusual but unremarkable film which should be amusing for mature audiences.
