Review

Nicholas Stoller (co-penner of Yes Man) again reveals his talent for intelligent comedy, utilizing the Aldous Snow character from Forgetting Sarah Marshall to create a healthy satire on the rock industry and indulgent celebrity life. Russell Brand fools about in recognisable fashion, but he demonstrates that he can do it purposefully and sympathetically, and with an amiable Jonah Hill alongside him, Get Him to the Greek makes for a revitalization of the buddy movie with suitable doses of stupidity, wit and charm. Stoller also directs, with a refreshing command of the dramaturgy; the film retains its momentum even in parts which seems forced or affected. The highlight is a hysterical afterparty in a Las Vegas hotel, the low-point an insipid bathos of an epilogue.
