Review

Don't for one second be tricked into thinking Firewall is an innovative thriller filled with fresh approaches. Sure, it could be labelled as a 'high-tech' movie, if you're not too critical, but basically it's just an extremely formulaic thriller seasoned with some computer wizardry and - to be honest - some nice script touches towards the end. Harrison Ford recycles himself and Paul Bettany is unimpressive, but they are both commanding and persistent enough to make their performances work. Richard Loncraine's direction is unimaginative, but not devoid of suspense, and the conspiracy theories and claustrophobic feel is apparent and effective. The film could have been fairly memorable, had it not been for the boring finale that really lets the story down and makes you wish the stars had been Steven Seagal and Dolph Lundgren instead.
